it's that time of the year again when we get to dress up realll nicely,
eat loads of good food,
get together with relatives you only see once a year
get loads of red packets if you're single(: or unmarried
and when you get to hone your conversation skills in trying to fend off all the incessant questions bout whether you already have a boyfriend or not.
haha.
but it's fun(; and I really love being who I am, a true blue Chinese.

I guess in our culture traditions are really important and
I feel that even as our society becomes ever more modern and westernised,
these are cultures we should keep(:
it's fun being who we are.

Had a really good time this year
despite the fact that there was no gambling due to the fact that we have yet another new addition to our extended family... little aaden(:
He's my nephew once removed I think. haha.
the son of my oldest cousin and he's only 4 months old.

OH! I also realised that getting your pay check is an extremely exciting thing,
especially if it's your first one.

I love going to work knowing that the day is gonna be great no matter what
cause of the great company that's around you.
Even when I'm tired it all becomes ok cause the people around you will get you drinks
and all that.
The best thing is that I can help the juniors and make up for the effort that I couldn't wholly put in last year.
I've got the chance to do things that I've never gotten to do before
and now, I'm happy, I'm really happy.

Went to school to meet up with mdm today
was told that I'm gonna start work tomorrow!!!
wow. haha i was actually quite stunned to hear that.
cause i kept thinking that i'll only start work in feb.
haha.
in some ways it is bad but of course it's good to start work early!
i'm really grateful for the chance to work.
It's "bad" cause i wanna sleep in more!!!!
haha from tomorrow onwards i'll have to wake up at 6am!!!!
hehe.it'll be exactly like the old school days.
also, lizzo wont be starting together with me so i'll kinda be all alone.

am feeling just a tad bit miserable now
cause I'm missing everyone...
everyone is busy with their own lives,
their own relationships and their own things.
Once school was out we were all separated in a sense
cause school was the one thing that tied us together.
The guys go to the army
and the girls either go to uni or work.
Hmm...
really wanna be able to see the friends every day
but i know in my heart it's not possible
so i'm gonna make it a point to keep in touch
even if i have to be the one who initiates it most of the time.

Just witnessed one of the most beautiful sunsets i've seen thus far over the chinese garden on my way home.
Sometimes we all have to stop and just look around us
and savour the beauty that God has given to us.
The blue skies, the dark clouds, the rainbows, the swaying trees, the moon as well as all those twinkling stars.
Sometimes a lot of us take the things around us for granted
and when their gone,
we suddenly realise that we cant do without them and we regret.
Cherish all that God has given unto you
and each and every day will seem awesome and happy.

Am missing something/someone badly now...
never thought it would happen
or maybe it's just my mind being in denial.
never thought that I would feel this way...
saying goodbye was dreadful in a way
yet happy?
cause I know that I can be stronger and that if I can get through this it would mean that I've really grown up.
Many a times we dont have to rely on our own strength to get things done
or to get through things.
try trusting in the Lord,
it really does help because His strength is sufficient for EVERYONE on this earth.
indeed everything happens for a reason.

went to kbox with captain choo today!
HAD A LOT OF FUN AND LAUGHTER!!!!
(too bad marcus didnt go)
but the aircon was FREEZING.
im serious i think the temp was maybe at 12 degrees or something.
had my scarf and a long jacket on.
come to think about it,
i looked like i was in taiwan or hk cause it's a mild winter at those places now.

had quite a lot of stares on my walk home.

Went cycling at east coast today!!!(:
haha.
the weather was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
haha! it was super duper hot and nice and sunny and really really windy!
of course, i just had to go home and realise that i've got a T-shirt tan line and am sunburnt all over.
and it is sooooo warm now!(cause skin is burning)
haha but anyway i had a good time riding the tandem bike with lileng
and rushing all over looking for fu le meng,liang quan, dong dong and wei ge.
haha. CANT LOSE SIGHT OF THEM!
which we did for a while.
haha.
Weige even tried to go and catch a crab at the bottom of the wave breaker>.<
haha.
It was really nice being able to just not care about bringing them to church and just spend time with them having fun.

Was feeling quite down in the morning and i had to keep reminding me of the "promise" i made with somebody about our theme for the year
which is STAY POSITIVE!
I'm really gonna try and do my best to fulfill it.

I just had a really long chat over the phone with someone i havent exactly spoken to in a really long time due to a misunderstanding
and it really does feel good.
Like somehow everything is falling back into place,
into friendly territory in a sense.

Stuff happened today, well yesterday to be exact
and it really made me wonder whether i'm meant to do what I'm doing now.
Sometimes when you take one step forward, after a while it seems like you're flying a thousand steps back and honestly, it's disappointing.It's damn disappointing.
I guess all i can do now is pray about it cause honestly, i cant do much about it now.
I wish that they could just understand that I'm trying to be their friend...
I guess somehow the way we went about it was a tad too aggressive... now i'll just focus on being a good friend.

Someone messaged me bout someone very dear to me today.
His exact words were "dont you think it's time to salvage the relationship between you two?"
Somehow i dunno.
I think i'm afraid of even facing the problem...
furthermore there are others out there who like her have chosen to just abandon me and disappear from my life without a word.
Am i hesitant to reach out for her hand once again because i'm afraid of getting hurt?
Or is it because I'm scared of pushing her further away?
Or is it because I'm afraid that when I see her I won't know what to say?
Maybe it's one of them or maybe it's all..
I dunno.

But it's the year 2010 and I'm gonna make it the best year yet.
I'm gonna be stronger.
I'm gonna be more patient.

the storm yesterday night was scary.

the wind was howling so loudly,

i realised that i've been afraid so often these past few weeks..

because the verse proverbs 3:5-6 kept repeating to me throughout the span of 3 to 4 days.

just yesterday, wesley messaged me the same verse.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the LORD with all your heart,

And lean not on your own understanding;

In all your ways acknowledge Him,

And He shall direct your paths.

this verse has really impacted me

and i shall keep praying and trusting in the Lord.

what's there to be scared of for TWO EVENTS FOR NATS?

NOTHING!

if my God is for me,

WHO CAN BE AGAINST ME?

for all these years,

i know God has put me in canoeing for a reason.

i dont have to understand the reason,

i just have to keep doing my best in whatever God has put me in.

i have to grasp the opportunities as they pass by

cause the season is now.

i wont be afraid,

but i know i will cry

but i'll try not to.

sometimes we just have to look at the positive side and stay strong

i know it's easy to say and hard to do.

i know.

but we just have to try.

a few days ago.....
ok fine, actually QUITE A FEW days ago,
lydia and i went to watch the fahrenheit concert!
met up with joelle and vicky earlier to go eat at Kallang Leisure Park
haha.
there were quite a lot of people queueing for the bus along with us
so we got quite a fright
haha.
joelle and vicky got the front row seats so lyd and i went to our seats at the north entrance.

we waited for about an hour for the concert to start

it started half an hour late!

haha but it was ok!

originally when i asked him to send lyd and i home from the concert the night before,

he adamently refused.

then when lyd and i were walking to the mrt,

he suddenly called me and asked me where i was!

so i told him we just left the stadium and then he told us to walk to the place where he usually picks me up and wait for him there for about 10 to 20 mins.

when i told my mum bout it,

she said that my dad must have stayed back in the office especially for me(:

and lyd and i left the stadium at around 11!

anyway,

on Sunday, we had the CANDLELIGHT SERVICE!

went for an outing with the ex-euphorians + the new euphorians after svc.

took seema's car and we managed to squeeze 9 PEOPLE!

i found out that i have a DATE this FRIDAY EVENING!

after deciding to be nice and go and support the ACJC choir,

after their last song,
i picked up my phone and checked for my messages,
and guess what i found out?

after reading it,
i couldnt help jumping up and down and thanking the Lord.

after obtaining correct directions from a nice man who even told me where to find the lift.
but still,

i walked round the area for 15mins,
going up and down staircases only to find them locked,
going into the wrong companies,
then i FINALLY FOUND THE LIFTS.
got to the office
and FOUND THE DOOR LOCKED!

so called the lady again and she opened it for me(:

CAPE NO. 7 海角七号 watched it yet?

just the other day,
my dad and i went to watch this movie together cause we both wanted to watch it
as well as the fact that it would be daddy and daughter bonding time.

truth to be told,
when the lights dimmed and the movie started playing,
i was really confused at quite a few points in the movie.
what is the link between the letters and the main actor?
how did the main characters suddenly fall into love?
(i shant say anymore for fear of spoiling the movie)
but later on,
i realised as i pondered over the movie
that IF one was to watch the movie in a superficial manner,
like how one watches chick flicks and comedies,
one would be unable to understand the full meaning behind this movie

suddenly,
i saw it.
i saw the beauty of this movie and why it was so successful as well as having awesome reviews.
On the surface,
the movie would be a typical love story between a girl and a guy
but if you bother to look deeper,
you would see how the movie is trying to tell people, especially the youths to hold on to their roots, to be PROUD of your own culture,to PROTECT your own identity, to PROMOTE your culture, your race to others.
you can see and feel the love of ones country strongly protrayed
you would also see the movie tries to encourage people not to live with regrets and treasure your loved ones before it's too late.
the letters?
they actually do have a connection to the main actor.. i shant talk about that too much
haha.

as i continued to watch the movie,
understanding began to dawn on me and then i realised how beautiful this film really is.
beyond it's awesome and breath-taking scenery,
beyond it's awesome soundtrack,
beyond it's awesome and funny cast,
i realised how much meaning this film has
and it has really touched me
it has really touched my heart.

i miss taiwan.

so im here to tell you bout my trip(:

DAY ONE 18/11/08
reached the airport at 6.30a.m if im not wrong
our flight was at 8 plus
haha.
had a fright cause someone forgot her passport
but EVERYTHING WAS OK!

we took Cathay Pacific to Hong Kong then transferred to Dragonair to fly to Beijing

there was no inflight entertainment so all i had to look forward to was the FOOD!!!

when we went outside after collecting our baggage,
WE WERE SO EXCITED AT THE STEAM THAT WAS COMING OUT OF OUR MOUTHS!

DAY TWO 19/11/08
woke up bright and early and had a scrumptious buffet breakfast
(I MISS THE OMELETE:/)
then we headed off for our first day at BEIJING NATIONAL DAY SCHOOL.
THE SCHOOL IS HUGE!
it has an international section, normal section for high school and junior high students as well as a private primary school!
not to mention a hostel that accomodates 3000 of the 5000 students enrolled in the school
and a teacher's condominium.
like WOAH.

we were first welcomed by the principal of the school who's actually quite a big shot
then we went on a tour of the school and all of us were practically running cause we couldnt stand the cold
hahahahhaha!(:
we finally found relief inside this meeting room which had HEATERS!
it was a GODSEND.

after lunch and napping in the meeting room,
we were finally introduced to the classes we were going to be attached to
i was attached to 高一（二班）along with kenneth mak.

each class consists of an average of 48 students
my class has 18 guys and 30 girls
and they're around 16-17 years old.
their school day starts at 8 to 5 plus with 9, 40mins periods and 10 min breaks between those periods.
slotted in between are a period for daily exercise where everyone takes part, a 15 min slot for eye exercise and an hour 45 min of lunch break
AWESOME RIGHT?
hahahha.

when we reached the school, we kinda filmed “跑吧孩子”cause we were late.
hahahhaa.
they had a test in class and i was busy making friendship bracelets for the 30 girls

they had awesome music lessons though!!!

apparently,
their student council organises basketball, volleyball etc matches for interclass competitions during their lunch break

today felt like it was the REAL START of school.

i love the language(:

a few days ago i was really upset
cause God presented me the opportunity for going to Taiwan for mission work
but
i guess i couldnt bring myself to sacrifice cause now that i have a partner
i have to think of her before myself
i was so disappointed at myself
and stuff
but now i realised it's a blessing that i didnt take the plunge and sign up
cause the dates of the mission trip(there are three to choose from)
clash with my oral
and also nationals
so well.
i'll just trust in God to present me the right opportunity(:

compared to everyone else
my days have been really really boring
haha.
like SUPER BORING
but i guess i dont mind reliving the days we spent during the June hols
i'll miss the seniors so much when they graduate:/

but i guess it's only if it isnt during school hours which it most probably is.

ok I GUESS i'm back><
i guess i have no excuse for not blogging cause i did have time to spare
but well
JUNE holidays can be summarised in a few words
wakeup, TRAINING, eat, STUDY,eat, pray, sleep
and the occasional DOUBLE TRAININGS
and of course,
TUTION,
WATCHING DRAMAS
HOMEWORK
and most importantly of all,
CHURCH!
yup
that's a hell lot of excitement for me!

i sprained my ankle on the first day of the school hols
cool huh?
i tripped and fell in the sports comp.
felt like crap
and couldnt train for a week
and it was with that uncertainty that i went to compete in NWKC
i guess i was disappointed in my results
but well
since when have i not?
there's always this innate desire in me to do better
to improve
to not let others down
and to bring glory to God.
well
i have an answer to all these though
just TRUST IN GOD
i really will(:

this one month plus has really opened my eyes up
many things will happen
and many things have happened
but one thing i know for sure
is to PRAY,SMILE and TRUST.
after all
God has already fashioned our days for us(:
